I have finally been able to find a copy (or at least one reasonably priced) of "The Lear Diaires", and I've not been able to put it down yet.
The man is a work-aholic..something I can relate to. It strikes me how well he uses the written word - not having any background or understanding of theater productions, I'm still able to recreate everything in my mind as he tells it. I also like how it's very frank and unflinching.
**Should be getting my copy of "Salem to Moscow" any day now....I hope!**

I'm so glad to hear someone else has read at least one of Brian Cox' books! He should write more about his experiences - he does have a wonderful way with words.
It's been quite a few years ago already but I think I got both his books via http://www.abebooks.com/ - I just checked and there are a few copies of THE LEAR DIARIES but I *know* I didn't pay as much as they're going for now!

And lo-and-behold, I get home yesterday and find my copy of "Salem to Moscow" has arrived!! I had to get it through Alibris.com, and it actually wasn't to highly priced. The reason "Lear Diaries" cost so much was that I had to go through Amazon.com.UK and pay shipping from England to get it. All told I paid $45 for "Lear". (They are both used copies, BTW, but in very good condition)
These were both birthday presents for myself, and they were worth every penny!
